Once you tap on the airplane icon, a menu will appear which will give you the option to share the post to your Instagram story from any profile that allows post sharing.

If you try to share a post to your Instagram story from someone else’s account or your own account which is set private and does not allow sharing, the feature will not be available.

How to share an Instagram post to your Story from your own feed
1. Open the Instagram app on your phone.
2. Find the post you want to share in your Instagram story in your feed.
3. Tap the paper airplane icon.
4. The “share” menu will appear. Tap on the first option, “Add upload to your story”.
5. Uploaded photos or videos will be automatically uploaded as story drafts. Tap the icons at the top of the window to add stickers, draw or type text.
6. Tap ” Your Story ” in the lower left corner to upload it.
How to share an Instagram post to your Story from someone else’s account profile
1. Open the Instagram app on your phone.
2. Use the magnifying glass icon to find and tap your profile, or select your profile icon, represented by a profile silhouette, in the app’s bottom menu.
3. Select the post you want to share to your Instagram story
4. Tap on the airplane icon below the image.
5. Select “Add upload to your story” from the menu that appears.
6. When the photo or video is automatically uploaded as a story draft, start adding stickers, drawing, or typing text.
7. Tap ” Your Story ” in the lower left corner to upload it.
